Nicolas Marciano French, b. 1992

Nicolas Marciano develops a style of painting that speaks to us of childhood and our relationship with the future: enchanted forests, totem animals, huts, balloons and toys populate his paintings, playing on striking pictorial contrasts. A graduate of the Beaux-Arts in Brittany, Nicolas Marciano began a long association with La Source, founded by Gérard Garouste to help young people in difficulty and combat exclusion. It was at this point that he laid the foundations of his universe. The children's drawings went beyond the educational workshops and were repeated on his canvases, done with the left hand to preserve the naivety of the subject and the awkwardness of the line.  The idea of shelter, for example, is a recurring theme in his work, the hut becoming a space for play, protection and dreams. Nicolas Marciano reflects on the way children think about play, and what this says about our society and our unconscious projections.

Nicolas Marciano lives and works in Paris. The group show Tout va bien is his very first collaboration with CHENUS LONGHI.
